Born in Singapore, 1943

Amidst the clutter of daily life, I seek solace in creativity and inspiration through colours to guide myself through the journey of self-discovery. My art aims to provide a newfound visual revelation that evokes a sense of familiarity – reminiscent of home and simple everyday life – while subtly offering a different perspective to stimulate the mind. Every painting has a moral, a story, or some rationale driving its conception. Although the viewers may be tempted to seek an understanding of my thoughts and ideas through the Artist’s story, my goal is for them to emerge from the encounter with new insights and appreciation for the familiar after interpreting my artwork through their individual perceptions.

Mark graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in 1962, and since then worked as an Art Director until 1998.

He actively participated in many exhibitions locally and overseas, such as in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan and China.

Throughout the years of his art practice, he received commendations in many competitions, such as the UOB Competition (1989, 1990 and 1992); First Prize in Asian Council Logo Design Competition (1991); Runners-up in Olympics Challenge in Time Magazine (1992); and Distinction in Dr. Tan Tsze Chor Art Award (2013).

His works are collected locally, such as SingTel and overseas corporations in Hong Kong, Macau, Spain, Switzerland and USA.
